Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has unveiled an ambitious vision for India's tourism sector, projecting a 15% faster growth in domestic tourism by 2029. The minister highlighted the sector's potential to outpace overall economic growth, citing a remarkable 95.64% increase in domestic tourist numbers. Shekhawat emphasized the government's commitment to developing 50 top tourist destinations in partnership with states, improving infrastructure, and streamlining visa processes. With over INR 6,800 crore already invested in destination development, India aims to solidify its position as a global travel hub, targeting a spot among the top 10 tourist destinations worldwide within five years.
