Namgyal Dorji, Bhutan's Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Employment, emphasized the significant opportunity the Gelephu Mindfulness City project presents for Assam. The ambitious $100 billion development, located on the Bhutan-Assam border, aims to become a hub for sustainable business and green technology. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal recently inaugurated an Inland Water Transport terminal at Jogighopa, just 91 km from Gelephu, enhancing connectivity. The project includes plans for a railway line connecting Guwahati to Gelephu via Chirang, reducing travel time to two hours. This development is expected to boost trade, tourism, and economic growth in both Bhutan and Northeast India56.
