India aims to lead the world with AI by the year 2047, yet lacks talent. India has achieved a 263% increase in AI talent focus between 2016 and 2023 but cannot retain the AI talent. India supplies the world with nearly 16% of AI talent, but none of them return to India from abroad. India must retain the AI talent profitably to transform India into a global AI center.
Indian education system lags behind in practical AI training. India produces the second-largest number of engineering graduates in the world but lags behind the US and China when it comes to doctorate education. The assumption is that obtaining AI skills will accelerate career development. AI-enabled tools are increasingly being applied to screening candidates, managing performance, and engagement.
